Kathleen Rooney, M.D.
Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Kathleen Rooney is a sixth-generation Sacramentan. Upon completion of her degree in Anthropology from the University of California at Los Angeles, she returned to Sacramento to attend medical school at the University of California at Davis. Dr. Rooney enjoyed her experience immensely and stayed at UC Davis to complete her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency. For Dr. Rooney, it is an honor to take care of women in the community in which she was raised.
Dr. Rooney enjoys all aspects of women’s healthcare from family planning to obstetrical care, sexual health, menopause, and LGBTQ care. She is an advocate for minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures. She values treating women through all transitions of their lives and strives to provide the services a woman may need during each of these transitions.
Dr. Rooney has an interest in the broader aspect of women’s health care and is involved in ACOG. She is also a Physician Champion for the Electronic Medical Record System (EMR) for Sutter and sits on the Sutter Quality Committee.
When not working, she is a mom to two young boys, a wife, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. In her free time, she loves to cook, read, take spin and pilates classes, and dip into self-care rituals like meditation.
